Perfect time to Trek Langtang Valley

The perfect season for the Langtang Valley Trek is spring and autumn; during this time, the weather will be pleasant, the temperature will be mild, and the routes will be filled with joy. In the interval, the Langtang Valley Trek is favored by the weather and pleasant environment, where trekkers can enjoy nature and culture. If you want to experience clear skies, greenery, and festive events with silver shining white mountains, then we recommend the autumn season and the spring season to experience the colorful jungle with rhododendron flowers and the beautiful white mountains. So, both seasons are prominent to best trekking time in Nepal and ensure a safe trekking trip with risk-free landslide, heavy snowfall, and rainfall in the Langtang region.

In spring, the daytime temperature ranges from 10 degrees to 20 degrees in Langtang Valley, while at night, the temperature falls to 0 – 5 degrees, almost freezing. The lower parts remain green, and trekkers can behold the apparent views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). In the season trails are little crowded and sometime in Lama Hotel difficult to get accommodation in the room and needs to alternate in the tent or dining sometime, because there are just limited tea houses in lama Hotel and also this is the place to use two-time stay by trekkers like as trekkers from Kynjin Gompa and trekkers from Syabrubesi use to stay in this place so, there will be lack of enough accommodations while there is more crowded. The trekking in the beautiful autumn and spring seasons also provides the best scenery for photography.

Conversely, in autumn, the weather is pleasant and quite dry. During the day temperature fluctuate between 8 degrees and 15 degrees, including cold nights at the higher altitude. Autumn has just started after the rainy season, so the weather, skies, and environment are clearer, and you can observe the beautiful mountains and different landscapes of the trekking region. Apparent blue skies after the monsoon tender outstanding eyeshot for white snowcapped mountains that are excellent from Kynajin Ri (4,773m) or Tsergo Ri (4,984m). Tea houses are fully occupied, and great festivals of Dasain and Dipwali make the trekking trip colorful.

Though winter (December, January, and February) and Summer (June, July, and August) are taken as the low season, people still visit Langtang Valley. In winter, there will be heavy snowfall in the mountain areas, including Langtang Valley. That is why we suggest trekkers carry enough trekking equipment like a warm down jacket, a warm sleeping bag, crampons, trekking poles, trekking boots, and other accessories. It is better to join the trek with experience guide so that he/she will be aware about risk because there are some places where you may encounter rock falling in the Pahiro, just above the upper part of Bamboo village, and down to Rimche village, where you can see the memorial of an Israeli citizen who lost his life in an earthquake on 25th April 2015. Normally, in Langtang valley, the trek is a risk-free zone from avalanches, but still, one needs to be careful while trekking in the mountains, as in heavy snowfall, it is difficult to find the trail after covering all places with thick ice and snow. Similarly, in summer, you can also do the Langtang Valley Trek, but we strongly recommend the trek with experience mountain guide because this is the rainy season, and even small streams can fill with floods, which is risky, and there might be a landslide on the way, so you must be very careful. The most risk john for the landslide on the way to Langtang Valley Trek is between Pahiro village and Rimche Village, and the most dangerous john is in Pahiro, just before Rimche village, where trekkers must be very careful. The trail will be slippery, raining, foggy, and trekkers may not be able to see the mountain views because of clouds covering all the mountain peaks.

In a gist, spring and autumn are the perfect times for trekking in Nepal, which guarantees the most ideal experience in the Himalayan region of Nepal, including Langtang Valley. A blend of pleasant weather, natural serenity, and significant cultural liveliness bestows every moment in the hiking route.

Shared jeeps are faster and easier. It may cost about NPR 2000 -2500 (USD 15-20) per person will take around 6 hours.
