Likewise, another alternative route is Lukla – Paiya – Thangak – Khare – Base Camp – High Camp and Mera Summit. This is much better and easier in comparison with an earlier mentioned trail. That is why we can say that the difficulty level of the Mera Peak expedition varies from the route.
Altitude Sickness
In the mountains, everyone does have fear of altitude sickness. The altitude sickness is probably met around the altitude of over 3000 meters. The journey to Mera Peak is starting from the lowest point 1400 m from Kathmandu to the ultimate highest point 6,476m, Mera Peak. In between you will adjust your body to the altitude every day.
Therefore, anyone can be suffering from altitude sickness or Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) which is the most challenging and difficult part of the Mera Peak expedition.
Weather and Temperature
The weather in the mountain is unpredictable because it is frequently changing. So, these frequent weather conditions always make the fear of harsh weather. The temperature can fall at any time and chances of snowfall could occur for the bad weather.
Hence, if so happens, the strenuous Mera peak climbing is affected, or the expedition level up in difficulty. The warm temperature and rainfall or snowfall absent days are best for climbing. Moreover, any serious change in weather and temperature will affect and occur difficulties in climbing.

On the other hand, winter and summer are the off-season for trekking and climbing or other adventure outing in Nepal. Winter is the coldest time of the year and monsoon is the rainy season so, both seasons are unfit to trek and climb peaks. So, spring and autumn are the perfect time to climb Mera Peak.
The Mera Peak Climbing
It is already mentioned that Mera Peak does not technically demand but the elevation is 6,476m and takes a long day for the summit and you must be open to the elements. One should care about hydration and manage a slow walking pace. The icy trail is not steep, but it is a long day and it will sap your stamina. The high altitude affects your strength but it affects your whole metabolism and you will feel appetite and may have insomnia or sleeping altered. Alternate your diet to a simpler one, less fried including fatty foods as well as more slow-energy carbohydrates. Make your body hydrate drinking by lots of water more than usual and rest much as much as you can.
Moreover, you have to make yourself comfortable walking on a man rope, clipping in and fixing an equal pace to everybody else on the hiking line. Same as you also need learn about to using crampons and walking on them. Everyone uses high camp for this camp and same as we do, so adjusting to the altitude and keeping our body warm, dry, hydrated, and enough fed is most significant to ensure you are in good shape for summit day. We have enough time on the walk-in, it is outstanding, to practice the skills required.
Some reasons for people’s flashback caused mainly; fatigue, lack of energy in the muscles and normal running out of gas on the day, gastric problems, and altitude sickness too. Altitude is the main factor to play all of these issues, but we suggest you eat well, drink lots, try to sleep well, and walk slowly and smoothly.
Accommodation on the Mera Peak Climbing /Trekking
Accommodation on the trek, climbing after and before has availability of comfortable tea houses run by locals, unless you will prefer tents. Each and every lodge has a central communal dining area with a stove but the bedrooms are not heated with two beds and mattresses, blankets, and pillows and it is better to bring your sleeping bag. Usually, the lodges have gas showers and some use the infamous ‘drop’ toilets but mostly now available flushing system nowadays.
Food on the trek is qualitative and mixed with Nepali traditional/Sherpa food and Western recipes. The local Dalbhat or Dumplings (MOMO), are the best choices available and burgers & chips are a common cuisine in Lukla though, less likely on the hike to Mera Peak because this area is not developed neither this area is crowded like the main trail north to Lukla to Everest Base Camp.
Furthermore, at Mera Peak base and high camp, we will use mountain tents normally sleeping two people in tents. You need to bring a 4-season sleeping bag and also a quality sleeping mat. In the lower you can just use a sleeping bag liner for sleep in an open zipped 4 season bag in order to not get hot. All the equipment will be available for rent.
Training for Mera Peak
Regarding training for the Mera Peak climb, we would like to suggest that you start on a good fitness training program at least 3 months before and keep in touch with your doctor or consultant and take advice from him about your physical condition and one that builds up general stamina and specific leg muscle tight. There is nothing more than hiking in the mountains with a rucksack to train for this climbing trip so, it is the best advice is to hike in the mountains as often as you can. While you are hiking, you might be taking 10 kilos in your day pack so, better to try with it.
Moreover, if you are joining a gym for physical fitness then concentrate on the step machines which pressure on the thigh and calf muscles, and try to build your possible heart rate up to 50 % above the resting rate. Another cardiovascular workout like swimming is good but joining other exercises is to be valuable.
