The Langtang region has been the most popular trekking destination in Nepal since a long time ago with the sceneries of astounding mountains on the horizon.

But the region was badly affected by the devastating earthquake in 2015, and the region is still taking to recovery and the number of visitors has been increasing recently. The charm of the Langtang valley is still existing though there was an earthquake. Similarly, obtaining this trek means economically empowering the victims of the earthquake and the lives of the locals of this province.

On the other hand, the hiking adventure to Langtang region is especially for those people who want to encounter mid-hills and elevated Lakes. Every year thousands of travelers from the globe and inside Nepal explore the Gosaikunda. The lake is peculiarly visited by Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims while others visit to observe the natural beauties of the lake and surrounding mountains.

The trekking is also suited for beginner or novice trekkers and this is moderately challenging which is adjustable for all hikers with healthy bodies and a passion for trekking. Likewise, there are lots of chances to learn the most breathtaking adventure on this hike while the trail passes through verdant woods, traditional villages, lavish creatures, and incredible Himalayan vistas of the pinnacled silver shining majestic mountains and typical Langtang Valley. The place is also popular for its friendly locals, unique traditions, various Buddhist monasteries, and landmarks along the trail.

Hence, the marvelous journey to Langtang Gosaikunda Trek carries the river upstream with rhododendron woods, pine forests, and bamboo before climbing through attractive yak pastureland to reach the lure nature of Mother Earth in the Langtang Valley.

It is a small town located on the bank of the Bhote Koshi River where you can enjoy exploring mountain markets and hot springs on the bank of the river.

The adventure journey to Langtang Valley began from here and we set out trekking crossing the Bhote Koshi to Langtang River. We continue our hiking along the Langtang River through the beautiful fertile forest and terraced fields. We walk forward and there is a junction of Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda trail and we continue our journey towards Langtang Valley. On the way, we will see a glimpse of the snowy mountain peaks just straight ahead. Finally, the congested and narrow river valley broadens out at Ghoda Tabela where we need to register our Langtang region entry permit. The trial led us closer to the Langtang Valley on the east side of the River. Our continued walking will take us to Langtang Village passing by the prayer wheels and prayer flags to the great Langtang Village settled by the Tamang ethnic group.

We regularly ascend as we pass through the tiny typical villages and yak pasture land. The broad Langtang Valley presents far-sighted Himalayan panoramas of majestic mountains. The trail passes through several tributaries and a glacial moraine of the valley. Here, we then reach our final destination Kyanjin Gompa which is named after the nearby ancient monastery of Kyanjin Gompa. The Langtang Valley offers a selection of tea houses along its less traveled trail which means not the necessary of tents and any camping equipment. The trek is moderate and does not demand a high level of physical fitness that is similar to Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek. The tea houses are cozy and dining is warmed by a fire oven in the center with the local families and their traditions. The rooms are comfortable but the quality might be different from the area and price.

At the higher places, there will be a basic level of accommodation where you can expect simple rooms sharing common bathrooms and squat toilets, lack of heating, and need sleeping bags for sleep. For a hot shower, there will be a gas shower or bucket shower with your extra payment.

Meals during then Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

First of all, you need to keep in mind that you are trekking in remote areas of the world rather than luxury travel in urban areas where the choice of food is very limited. The limitations of food menus are quite sizable but provide both local and western types of cuisine though the menus from village to village have similarities. Similarly, you can choose the option of foods from a variety of local cuisines including Nepali traditional food Dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetable curry with refilling until you get appetite), noodles item, fried rice, dumpling (MOMO), Thukpa (Tibetan noodle soup), spring rolls or western dish items like pizza, pasta, and potatoes.

The availability of local chapati or Tibetan bread with curry, fried or boiled eggs, porridge, muesli, or pancakes with tea or coffee is preferred for breakfast. The trekking is both vegetarian and vegan friendly but if you have any other dietary problem, you need to let us know and our guide will manage as per your choice on the way with the kitchen staff coordinating with the tea house owner. Usually, we offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our trekking package with total traveling days and you can free to purchase extra snacks, desserts, or other available beverages by yourself which is not included in your food packages.

Communication Service in the Langtang Area

Langtang Valley is close to the capital city of Nepal where the development of communication is quite better in comparison with other trekking areas of Nepal. Nepal Telecom (NTC) and NCELL are the two major SIM card providers in Nepal however, we suggest you buy an NTC SIM card for a better network in the Langtang Region. In the same way, you can purchase a SIM card on your arrival in Nepal.

WIFI in the Langtang Region

Most of the tea houses provide internet for a small fee but the network will be affected due to the weather and other issues in the area. The fee for using WIFI in the Langtang area is expected to be $ 4 or less for the internet in the Langtang region.

Electronic device charging in the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

You can charge your mobile phone, battery backup, and other electronic devices with the payment of a small amount of money which helps to recover the economy of the Langtang region people. And if you have a solar battery charging device that would be perfect for your electronic device charging.

Transportation for Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Normally all the fees and arrangements are attached to your trekking package booking with Himalayan Vista Trekking. But instead of a public bus, if you use a private vehicle it will be more comfortable and will reach Syabrubesi within 5/6 hours and all the management will be on your recommendations calculating with the price. After the completion of your trek, the exploration will be the same in reverse. Please keep in mind that the public buses in Nepal will be overcrowded, untidy, and hold on many times on the way to pick up and drop off the people. Bus riding is a kind of new experience for foreigners, it can be part of an exciting, immersive new experience for being a foreign citizen. Similarly, for a comfortable drive, you can use a private vehicle which takes a shorter time.

This is also the best time for trekking and hiking just early before starting the monsoon. Normally rainfall begins from the end of June till early September as the spring–summer time makes the trekking journey more enjoyable with adventurous satisfaction.

July – August

This is the main time for rainfall in Nepal, and we don’t recommend trekking in Nepal to anyone. Most of the time all the mountains are covered by clouds. The trekking trails get slippery but the trip can still be filled with fun because of the awesome waterfalls, raging rivers, and frequent seventh colors rainbows on the horizon.

September to October

This is the most perfect month of autumn season for trekking and touring in Nepal. Usually, monsoon will be on ending bringing an enjoyable climate with the combination of greenery, White Mountains, and clear blue skies.
