    FAQ's

Autumn (September, October, and November) and Spring (March, April, and May) are the best season for trekking Nepal and same as for Annapurna Base Camp Trek provide well climatic situation and clear weather makes the way without any restrictions made by snow and heavy rainfall or avalanche. Lots of rhododendron flowers are blooming during spring and in autumn the weather will be cold but snow cover will be away.

Most of the routes leading up to base camp are not easy as we have thought, the way might be a little risky by snow cover but no need to worry just attention to simple caution in the spring. The camp is on the base of the highest mountain Annapurna so, nobody can prediction about the weather because it is frequently changing in the high Himalayas, but in autumn it will be stable. Hence, these two seasons are considered to be the prime time for trekking in Nepal. The weather in Autumn is about 10 to 20 degree Celsius in the base camp area but it will fall 0 degrees in the evening and at night in spring the way probably cover with ice around Machhapuchre Base Camp and ABC and the temperature might be 0 to – degree Celsius

The trekking to Annapurna Base Camp is about 67 kilometers long, you can obtain the trek within 9 days from Pokhara. The trail is covering through off-road up to Ulleri and from there you can walk along the well-paved rocky trail inside the rhododendron woods and alpine forests.

Annapurna trek is a moderate trekking trip in Nepal so, we rate this trek as Moderately – Difficult. By two aspects the route is moderately difficult firstly its a distance of 67 kilometers and needs the time duration of more than 9 days to complete. This covers more than 9 kilometers with the longest walking through ABC to Sinuwa and on the fifth day, the trail ultimately reaches an altitude of 4,130 meters. Secondly, the trail is totally perpendicular in elevation ascend and descend. The trekking beginning the trek just an altitude of 10,500ft from Deurali but the trail rapidly gains its height up to 13,550 ft. towards Annapurna Base Camp. So, this is something you must be considered when you plan for the ABC trek. So, you should be physically fit for the trek.

From Kathmandu to Pokhara it will take 7-8 hours by bus and 25 minutes by flight.

During the trek to ABC trek, you will be accommodated in a tea house. The rooms are just basic but will be clean and the room is occurred by two rooms and perhaps you have to share the rooms with other trekkers. Ghorepani is the only place for getting attached bathrooms rest of the others to have common bathrooms. However, after Chhomrong there are limited numbers of tea houses and there will be multiple beds in rooms and somewhere will be dormitory during trekking season 3 – 4 trekkers should be adjusted.

Obviously, Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most suited trekking routes for novice trekkers or beginners. The trek commences from Tikhe Dhunga at an altitude of 1495 meters. The elevation is at the normal point for beginning the hiking and after around 7 to 8 days depending on your trekking program, you will reach to 4130 m, Annapurna Base Camp. So, if you arrive at ABC in a normal situation it is good but sometime you may suffer from altitude sickness so, in this situation, you have to decent immediately or take helicopter rescue through your travel insurance.

If you are planning for trekking in Nepal, amongst many things to study, the weather is one of the most significant factors. The trekking to ABC can be done all through the year. However, the climate does not remain always perfect and suitable throughout the year. Though, among all the months in Nepal, for Annapurna Base Camp Trek March, April, and May, as well as September, October, and November, are the best months for trekking to ABC. If you prefer to observe the combination of greenery, crystal clear white mountains with clear blue sky then October is the perfect month to trek and if you like to behold the colorfully decorated bond of rhododendron flowers and snowcapped mountains then April is the prime month for trekking to Annapurna Base Camp.

We would like to request basic physical training before you set your plan for the ABC trek. Any physical training like running, or cardio exercise will grow your endurance level. Apart from that, we advise you to do cardiovascular exercise, walking, hiking, trekking, and swimming, at least once a month so, you can easily obtain this moderate adventure.

If anyone set their plan for Annapurna Base Camp then they should focus on a balanced diet as well as physical workouts fewer months before. The ultimate elevation is 4,130 meters above sea level and the entire trekking distance is calculated at about 115 meters. The average hiking distance per day is 10-12 kilometers per day. So, It is a moderate level of ABC Trek as if the trekkers have previous trekking experience in the higher place so, it won't be more challenging.

Our first suggestion is to walk smoothly, and take your own speed while walking because if you rush to a higher place your stamina will be down very soon and get weak which means the level of oxygen is lower in the higher place so you might affect from acute mountain sickness (AMS). In the same way, drink lots of water and make your body hydrated while trekking at least drink 4 to 5 liters of water per day, this will help to prevention from altitude sickness. Furthermore, garlic soup and ginger tea work as a natural antibiotic and help to avoid AMS so, we recommend drinking these items. If you get the symptoms of altitude sickness then needs to immediate descend as well as can use Diamox pills.

Telephone services are available in most places and besides that, you can buy a sim card from Nepal Telecom or Ncell to set in your cell phone and can call your home. And, tea houses provide internet facilities, you can use WIFI but they will charge you additional but sometimes the signal is poor or not worked too.

Unfortunately, ATM machines are not available in any places during the trek so, you need to take hand cash in case for your expenses, we suggest you carry enough money for your trekking trip.
